Havelock North Cafe Scene

Havelock North is becoming Hawke's Bay's favourite holiday destination for those who want fine dining, fresh food and some of the best wine in New Zealand.

The village is buzzing with daytime cafes, their tables spilling onto the pavements to make the most of the warm, sunny weather and bustling atmosphere. You can even smell the coffee beans roasting as the scent wafts from the Hawthorne Coffee Roastery.

At night diners can choose from a wide range of restaurants, bars and eateries - tapas, pizza, bistro and ethnic to name just a few.

And for those wanting to cook for themselves, Havelock North is home to many artisan food producers and suppliers. You can visit many of the individual outlets on the Food Trail, or find many ingredients all in one place at specialty shops like Bolderson's Urban Food Store and Bellatinos. The Growers Market at Black Barn (which runs on Saturday mornings from November - March) is another great experience.
