About Unio
London trained Jeweller Bruce Jackson returned to New Zealand in 2000 after spending fourteen years in London training as a diamond mounter with a small Hatton Garden based workshop. The company provided services to some of the leading West End Jewellers and he made jewellery for several notable customers including members of the Saudi and Kuwaiti Royal Families and the Sultan of Brunei.
In 1993 Bruce moved to Perth in Western Australia to work with award winning Jeweller Alan Linney. Recognition of his talents came with being a finalist in the 1996 Jewellers Association of Australia (J.A.A.), receiving one of only two High Commendations awarded that year. Bruce was also a finalist in the 1997 & 1998 Pure Creation South Sea Pearl Jewellery Design awards, during this time he also completed Diploma of Arts ( Jewellery Design) course at the Fremantle T.A.F.E. College.
Back in New Zealand and working for a high-end Auckland Jeweller, Bruce was introduced to renowned Hawke's Bay hard stone carver Sam Wilkinson. Commuting to the bay soon became a permanent move and led him to set up UNIO Goldsmith & Gallery (the Latin word for Pearl - being unique) in Havelock North at the end of 2005.
Creativity and innovation is the essence of his work, along with a high level of craftsmanship and good value to produce that special piece of jewellery that is truly “made for you”.
